22.103 Appliances must be constructed so that dishes and cutlery that come into contact with the heating elements during the drying period do not pose a fire risk.
Compliance is verified by the following test.
The appliance is placed on a white pine panel covered with tissue paper. Polyethylene discs, approximately 80 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick, are placed in the most unfavorable position, where direct contact with the heating element is possible. The appliance is powered at 1.1 times the rated voltage and is put into operation for a drying period under normal operating conditions.
